Thank you to Saje Wellness for providing these products to help me create a wellness retreat at home! I have been a customer of Saje Wellness for years and all the opinions and experiences expressed in this post are 100% honest.
I have always believed that creating a healthy and happy home is essential to one’s well-being. This means making time for workouts, getting a decent amount of rest each night, and putting in place practices to alleviate stress. Something I have chosen to do over the last few years is make a room in my house a “no work” zone. This zone has been my bedroom and when I am feeling overwhelmed by emails, work, or projects, I go to my wellness retreat and allow my mind to calm itself.
This self-made wellness retreat hasn’t only been key to de-stressing myself, but it’s also been essential to keeping me healthy. During these colder months, I seem to always be battling a cold to the point that it’s almost a running joke in my family! Today I am sharing a sneak peek into my DIY at-home wellness retreat and am sharing a few of my favourite Saje Wellness products which I use regularly to beat the common cold as well as do away with stress.
How to Create a Wellness Retreat at Home
1. Saje AromaOm Ultrasonic Nebulizer + Best of Saje Deluxe Essential Oils
When I am not feeling my best, one way I like to ease some of the discomforts of congestion is by bringing some of that wellness into the air I am breathing. Saje AromaOM ultrasonic nebulizer helps alleviate some of my congestion symptoms by purifying the air and dispersing essential oils. This not only makes our home smell of beautiful essential oils, but it also helps my breathing and allows me to sleep more soundly.
The Best of Saje Deluxe Diffuser Blend Collection has a range of essential oils made to target daily issues, for example, I’ve been using the tranquility oil in the nebulizer each night for a night of more restful sleep – and I adore the Liquid Sunshine essential oil for a burst of refreshing citrus.
The Liquid Sunshine has been essential to brighten up the rainy days here in Vancouver! So, whether I am sick – or simply just sick of the rain, the Saje AromaOM ultrasonic nebulizer paired with essential oil is sure to help.
2. Mix Up a Calming + Cold Remedy Tea
The first time I ever caught a really bad cold after moving in with Jer, he introduced me to Honey, Lemon, and Turmeric Teas. It was his go-to remedy for a sore throat, and now it’s my go-to as well. This easy mixture instantly helps clear out congestion and soothes an uncomfortable sore throat. I drink plenty of these when I am under the weather – and even drink them occasionally just because I so enjoy the taste of them.
3. Natural Remedies
Rather than fight off bugs with Antibiotics or by easing symptoms with over-the-counter drugs, I always first try to battle colds using natural methods and treatments. When I first discovered Saje Wellness products a few years ago, my natural wellness journey began with their Peppermint Halo treatment. I have always suffered from headaches and I wanted to have something that would help soothe my mind when I began to feel one coming on.
Since then, I have continued to invest in natural health at Saje and I’ve grabbed almost all of their natural treatments – from chest colds to sprays that help insomnia. Saje Wellness At Your Desk Remedy Bar, which includes the Stress Release, Quick Study, and Eater’s Digest roll-on remedies.
I love having natural treatments around the house to soothe everything from a stressful day at the office to a sore stomach. The Quick Study Roll-on has been essential to my pre-trip blogging sessions so that I am able to focus and get all my work done before I leave.
4. Create a Sleep Routine
I love my sleep at all times, but when I am under the weather it’s especially essential to feel better. Nothing prolongs a cold like exhaustion, as it does lower your immune system so making sure you catch those important Zzzs has to rank highly on your priority list! I always try to keep a sleep schedule but when I slip up and end up having too many late nights, I always make sure to re-focus and embrace early nights and relaxation. Even when I am not sick though, I like to maintain a healthy sleep routine so that I feel my best while I am at the office, an exercise class, or getting a bit of blogging done.
5. Make your Bedroom a Zero Work Zone
There’s a place I work, and there’s a place I sleep – and the two never mix. I used to work from bed all the time. I’d grab my laptop and scroll through my e-mails. But over time I realize this actually ruined the relaxation and tranquility that a bedroom needs in order to actually get to sleep. I ended up really struggling with insomnia for months. While I still have restless nights from time to time, getting to sleep has been much easier now that the computer is banned from the bedroom.
6. Stock up on Good Reading Material
I love reading in bed, and each night before I drift off to sleep I always read a bit. I find that losing myself in a book helps calm and ease my nerves before attempting to go to sleep. I also have found that when I am stressed about work, having a bit of time to read has really helped give my mind that break it needed in order to re-focus again.
7. Meditate Daily
Something I’ve tried to incorporate into my daily routine is meditation. Going to my room and spending a few minutes in an attempt to quiet my mind has really helped organize my scattered thoughts during stressful and busy times.
I really have enjoyed the last few weeks turning on my Saje AromaOM ultrasonic nebulizer before I meditate to create an even more calming and relaxed environment. While I think meditation is great at all times of the day, I particularly enjoy setting aside some time in the morning and before bed so I can start and end the day with a calm and organized mindset.
