A few months ago, Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel sent me their newly launched Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel.
Bio-Oil rarely releases new products. They stick to their basics so when I saw the Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel show up in the mail I was really curious to learn more about it and try it out.
I’ve used Bio-Oil’s original oil for years, first using their oil for scars to help care for some of the knicks and scrapes I got as a kid and then using it on my Scoliosis Harrington Rod surgery scar to help it fade from being so red those first few years after my surgery.
I have never minded my scars. I actually like most of them, but especially after having the Harrington Rod surgery I realized that I wanted to take care of my scar so it healed well and was cared for.
Anyways, when Bio-Oil sent me their new Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel they sent me not one, but 3 tubs of the product! One to try out myself and two to give out to friends and family.
So, today rather than just getting my review of the Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel, you’re getting 3 individual Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel Reviews and experiences!
Overview:
“Bio-Oil® Dry Skin Gel is a new way to treat dry skin. Traditional dry skin products such as creams, lotions, and body butters are made primarily from water. Most of this water simply evaporates when coming into contact with your skin.
It’s often what causes the cold sensation that you feel when applying these products. Bio-Oil® Dry Skin Gel is made from oil, so feels “warm” on application. In a user trial conducted on dry skin sufferers, the majority said it was better than anything they had used before for dry skin.” – Bio-Oil
Bio-Oil Gel Cost: $14.49 (CAD)

Is Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel Non-Comedogenic?
YES!
Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel is non-comedogenic which means it will not clog your pores.
Using a heavier oil or gel product can be intimidating, I know. But, Bio Oil’s Dry Skin Gel has been independently tested and been proven to be non-comedogenic. So, if you’re concerned that this could cause blemishes or enlarged pores – don’t be!
How to Apply the Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel:
Before applying the Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel, you’ll want to cleanse your skin. If I am wearing makeup, I like to double-cleanse my skin.
First, I will use an oil-based cleanser, and then I’ll follow up with a gel or foam cleanser. This just ensures my skin is nice and clean base for the skincare products that I’m going to leave on.
After that, I use a toner. Lately, I’ve been using The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toner, or the Vichy Normaderm Toner. If my skin is feeling irritated, I’ll use a more hydration toner like the one in the Hwansaenggo Line.
After that, I will apply a moisturizer and once that it all settled into the skin I will then, I will use the Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel.
You only want to use a small amount of this gel as it is quite thick so start small and add on more if you find you need to.
Then, I add on any spot treatments or eye creams and allow the products to all absorb into my skin.

Kylie’s Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel Review
I recently received the Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel to try and review so here are my thoughts
One thing that I really liked about the Bio-Oil Gel is that it didn’t feel oily on my skin, and it absorbed in really quickly. Also, I really enjoyed the smell of this product.
Something that I really liked was that I didn’t have to use a lot of products to moisturize my skin. In fact, I barely used any but because this stuff is so intensely moisturizing, you can use a small amount of product goes a long way. Because you don’t have to use much of it, I think this will last a long time which is great.
At first, I was using this product all over my face. But now, I don’t use this all over my face, instead, I spot-treat with it. I use it on my driest spots, and on my feet.
I used to use the original bio-oil on my stretch marks and scars but because it was an oil it was a bit trickier to apply than this gel. Applying the gel was easy and not messy at all.
Is bio-oil dry skin gel good for psoriasis?
I had hoped this would help my psoriasis, but unfortunately, I think I need to get medication to help it this time around.
I was advised to not use it on broken skin, but desperate times call for desperate measures so I did try it on some of my cracked psoriasis spots and it didn’t help it. My Psoriasis is cracked and bleeding most of the time so I was not able to use it as much or as long as I would have liked.
I will definitely continue to use the Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel – especially once my psoriasis is under control. Then, I can just use this to maintain moisturized skin!
Jenna’s Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel Review
My hairline acts out on me periodically, but over the last few months, it’s been nothing short of a nightmare.
An embarrassing, never-ending, chunky-flake nightmare that had me dreading what the dry months of winter had in store for me. I foresaw a lot of toques, not because they’re cute – but because they were going to be necessary to contain all the flakes my scalp was shedding.
Truly, I felt like I tried every product on the market to help clear it up, but sure enough – as soon as it would begin drying from whatever treatment I just rinsed out of it, I would feel that familiar itch and marvel at just how much someone’s scalp could flake.
Then, I tried the Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel at Bree’s suggestion and noticed a difference immediately! The gel spreads easily enough that I can tap a small amount of it into my hairline to soothe my scalp and stop new flakes from forming without looking greased up.
In the beginning, when I was really suffering, I slathered it into my hairline like a mask and rinsed it out in the morning. It was the first time in months that my hair didn’t dry with my scalp already flaking into it, and me trying to pick it all out without screaming at the mirror.
This is a product that’s going to stay in my regular rotation. I may still wear a lot of toques as the weather gets colder and my skin gets dryer, but at least I won’t be afraid to take them off!
Bree’s Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel Review
Overall, I like Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel. It does feel heavy on the skin (and I wouldn’t recommend using it in the AM, just the PM), but it is effective for treating dry and irritated skin.
When we were in Greece, I had a pretty bad reaction to sunscreen. Both of my shoulders/arms were bumpy, red, and raw feeling.
Since it was 40+ degrees every day, I kept having to apply sunscreen overtop (though, I use a more gentle sunscreen) of the irritated area so, as you can imagine, it kept getting and feeling worse.
The only thing that ended up saving my skin was using Head and Shoulders shampoo (Selsun Blue usually also works) on the area, followed by the Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel. It took a few days of continuous use of this combo, but slowly the reaction cleared up and my arms healed. Anyway, without this combo I don’t think my arms would’ve healed up on their own. The shampoo helped clear up the inflammation, as the Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel moisturized the area so it would stop drying out and cracking.
Aside from that experience, I have also used the Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel on my face a number of times to clear up dry patches. When my skin gets dry patches, they are super dry – like desert dry. The area becomes tight, flakey, red, and painful and it usually takes a number of days before I am able to re-balance my skin.
The Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel has become my go-to product when I am experiencing severely dry skin or painful dry patches. It is a heavy gel, almost Vaseline-style texture, that turns into more of an oil when it is warmed by your hands – so it does leave your skin feeling a bit oily. But if you have dry skin then it’s worth it.
Simply apply at night before bed, and allow it to soak in and work its magic while you snooze.

Awesome review Bree! My wife bought me a lotion for dry skin but honestly it was not that effective. Thanks for this. I will tell my wife about this.

I use to have a dry skin before and it annoys me a lot because no matter how I use a lot of lotion it is still a bit dry and it makes me sad about that until I discovered this. I have been using this since then.
