Yes, You Can Wake Up With Great Hair.
When you’re in a rush in the morning – what do you find to be your most essential beauty go-to items? Is it your mascara? Or your hair straightener? Or maybe is it simply just a bit of lip-gloss? For me, nothing makes me feel more pulled together than those days when my hair just works.
I’m happy to go completely makeup-free (though, I do love my eyeliner + mascara) when my hair looks its best. Who needs mascara, blush, or bronzer when your hair looks lustrous and well-styled, right?
For me though, beautiful hair is healthy hair. So over the last few years, I’ve tracked down a few techniques that don’t just result in pretty tresses – they are also completely essential to keeping my hair at its healthiest. Today I am sharing my top five tips for having perfect hair every day!
5 Ways to Wake up With Great Hair Every Day
1. Braid It at Night:
One thing I’ve done over the last few years is braid my hair before going to sleep. I have to braid it to help it grow, get healthier, and avoid tangling and damage overnight. My hair tends to tangle and knot quite easily and I’ve found that braiding it has really helped tame some of those knots.
Something else I love about braiding my hair overnight: It styles it while I sleep. While it doesn’t always look perfect in the morning, the loose waves created by braiding it do make it look more styled and easier to work with if I want to heat style it further.
2. Use a Hair Serum:
I am a huge fan of hair serums, and in particular, I love DESIGNME GLOSS.ME Hair Serum with Argan Oil. Without it, my hair would be fuzzy and frayed looking all day every day. I use serum more often than most do and that’s because my hair is color-treated and naturally wavy which makes it on the dry side.
I use hair serum in the morning before work, after washing my hair, and just before braiding my hair each night. I’ve found having this 3 times a day routine has helped improve the ends of my hair and I’ve been able to go longer without hair trims. Plus, using a bit of serum on the ends of your hair also helps to smooth them to look healthier and softer.
3. Use a Heat-less Curls Technique:
Don’t want to use heat on your hair every day? Try using a heatless method to get those perfect curls! This heatless beach waves hair tutorial or this heatless curling rod technique results in the most gorgeous curls – and best of all, they are completely damage-free!
I use heatless curling methods often to style my hair. While they take longer to style your hair, they are much less damaging and it shows. Whenever I use these techniques my hair looks shinier and bouncier than when I use heat tools. I’m definitely a fan of heatless hairstyling methods.
4. Use a Detangling Spray:
If you usually wake up with super knotted hair then it may be time to invest in a hair detangling spray. I personally love Pureology Colour Fanatic Multi-Tasking Leave-in Spray.
5. Use a Silk or Satin Pillowcase:
When I switched to a silky pillowcase I immediately saw results – I would wake up with completely tangle-free hair. In fact, it was so tangle-free that many days I was able to skip brushing my hair at all.
Silk and Satin pillowcases are soft on your hair so they don’t cause breakage like a regular pillow cover would. Rather than having your hair rub against rough fibers, your hair glides over the silk making it less likely to get damaged overnight or tangled. Grab your own silk pillowcase on Amazon.

Wonderful tips. I have it on my list to purchase a silk pillow. I used to wrap a silk scarf around my hair at night and noticed right away the benefits of it, especially a reduction in oiliness. The scarf became a bit annoying though so the pillow should be more comfy. 🙂
