Friday Night Faves | 6 Ways to Unwind at the End of the Week

Cozy Fall Home Decor

6 Ways to Unwind at the End of the Week

After a long and cold week, I want nothing more than to just come home and treat myself to some spa-like pampering. This cold weather we’ve been having lately plus the early mornings has definitely taken a toll on me — not just on my energy level, but also on my hair, nails, and skin. So tonight the only thing on the docket is some relaxation and unwinding with a few of my favorites things.

Friday Night Faves: 6 Ways to Unwind at the End of the Week

Enjoy a comfort meal

At the end of the week, I never feel like cooking. I want something easy, quick, and yummy – something that I can enjoy while I wedge myself in on our couch and watch Netflix.

Lately, I’ve been making my elevated ramen recipe because it’s so quick and delicious, but whatever your favourite comfort food is – make it and enjoy it, or order in! You deserve an easy and delicious meal after a long week, right?

We don’t order food in often, but here and there it’s just nice to completely opt out of cooking and have delicious food delivered instead.

Go for a walk, or do some yoga

One thing I like to do each and every day, not just on Fridays, is go for a nice long walk. I find walking to be therapeutic and really the best way to relax after a busy week.

I also like walking because it gets me outside, breathing in the fresh air, and gives me a bit of light exercise which always helps me sleep better.

Another light exercise I like to do to unwind is yoga. I find simply stretching to be such a great way to just have some quiet time to focus on movements rather than busy thoughts.

Read

Reading is such a great way to calm your mind. It takes all your focus and attention, so it’s really a great way to ensure your brain isn’t still focused on work, or whatever other stressor is going on in your life.

Do a face mask and hair mask

I love masking sessions – sometimes that means multi-masking, binge-masking, or simply putting on a hair mask and face mask. There’s something so relaxing about putting on a face mask and I just love making time for little spa sessions like this at the end of each week.

Plus, I always feel like my skin and hair need that extra bit of TLC after a tough week. Especially when working in an office, I feel like it’s easy to just rush through your morning skincare routine as you’re rushing to get out the door and over-style your hair as you try to get yourself together for work.

Rushing through your skincare routine means that it’s not going to be as effective since you can’t be as thorough. And, rushing through hairstyling with heat tools means you damage your hair.

This is why I always find it so important to spend a few minutes at the end of each week to treat my skin with a face mask (or 3), and my hair with a hair mask!

Soak in the tub

Is there anything more relaxing than soaking in the tub? The ultimate unwind to me is soaking in a bubble bath while listening to a podcast. It’s my favourite way to end the day before heading to bed.

Get an early night

Lastly, I love to get an early night’s sleep so I can get up and enjoy an early morning Saturday. At the end of a busy week, I always find that I just want to go to bed. I often have insomnia during the weekdays (my mind tends to race when I go to sleep) so by Friday I am ready to just hop in some pajamas and hit the pillow to snooze.

Every girl needs a spa day after a long week of hard work. It's extra nice when it's cold somehow! I have more spa days in the colder weeks. Every friday afternoon it's spa/pyjama time for me!….every girl should :).

    Kisses,
    Lucia
