Looking for a product to take your skincare routine to the next level? Learn about my favourite overnight masks and get glowy skin while you sleep.
Let’s talk overnight skincare masks.
I started looking into overnight masks after being sent the Fresh Beauty Peony Brightening Night Treatment.
I had no idea that overnight masks were a thing. Sure, I had used creams, serums, and lotions – but masks that were intended to be rinsed off in the AM? Nope, I don’t think we’ve ever met before!

In the last year, I began using overnight masks, and let’s just say: my obsession just keeps growing, and so does my collection.
I love being able to switch up my overnight masks throughout the week to really target the issues I am seeing with my skin daily.
Let me know if you’re like me with this: when I use a hair mask time and time again, my hair gets overly used to it – and it stops working the way it did initially.
That’s how I feel about my overnight face masks, and that’s why I like to rotate through them so that my skin keeps getting that initial “WOW!” feeling.
My Favourite Overnight Masks
Fresh Peony Brightening Night Treatment Mask – $99
The Fresh Peony Brightening Night Treatment Mask mask is one I’ve been using for the last few months, and I absolutely adore it.
This mask contains peony and licorice root extracts, as well as vitamin C glucoside (which is an antioxidant) to brighten your skin while also targeting unevenness so that you wake up with radiant and even skin.
In addition, this mask contains hyaluronic acid which helps your skin retain moisture – as Zoolander says:”Moisture is the essence of wetness, and wetness is the essence of beauty”.
What I like so much about this mask is how gentle it is on my skin. I have quite sensitive skin, and it’s easy for me to go “overboard” with skincare and end up irritating it.
This mask has always been extremely soft and soothing on my skin, and I’ve never found that it has bothered my skin. I love how it gently hydrates and brightens my skin so that I wake up with super glowy, super balanced-looking skin.
Kiehls Ginger Leaf & Hibiscus Firming Overnight Face Mask – $69
The Khiels Ginger Leaf & Hibiscus Firming Overnight Face Mask has a super interesting texture – it’s like a whipped gelly/cream texture.
This pretty pink mask is formulated with hibiscus and ginger leaf to firm your skin while also softening the look of fine lines. I couldn’t love this mask more.
This mask really does plump the skin overnight so that you wake up with glowy and youthful-looking skin. The Hibiscus factor of this mask is what hydrates and firms skin, while the Ginger Leaf softens fine lines.
I have also found that this mask really adds life back to my skin. When I am feeling run down, I like to apply this mask overnight as I know I’ll wake up with a more vibrant and lively appearance.
Image VITAL C Hydrating Overnight Masque – $55
The New Image overnight mask was the first one I tried out, and I’ve really made my way through it. It is the heaviest of all the overnight masks, and I really adore how hydrating and softening it is on my dry-prone skin.
This paraben-free mask has more of a gel / thick vaseline-y texture – I know that sounds odd, but it is seriously so nice. I have found this mask, in particular, to be so soothing and hydrating.
The gel texture of this mask aims to rehydrate and re-energize your skin. It contains blue-green algae extract which is a natural retinoid and helps to smooth your skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
My skin can be quite dry-prone, so I really like to use this when my skin gets irritated or parched feeling, and always by morning my skin is back to feeling and looking its best.
Erno Laszlo Hydra-Therapy Memory Sleep Mask – $95
The newest overnight mask to my collection is one by Erno Laszlo, and my goodness – is it ever amazing. The Erno Lazlo Hydra-Therapy Memory Sleep Mask feels lightweight and hydrating on the skin once applied.
It is more of a watery-gel-based mask so you don’t really experience the same level of tackiness as you do with creamier products.
This mask helps retain the water you typically lose during your sleep (which is apparently up to 25%!) and contains prickly pear, green ginger, and mugwort extracts which help further moisturize and protect your skin.
This mask also contains mega-3, -6, and -9 fatty acids, which boost your skin’s collagen for a more youthful-looking appearance. And lastly, this mask also has a recovery complex with helps to brighten your skin for a more glowy look.
Like the Fresh mask, this mask is extremely gentle on your skin and I could honestly see myself using this every night as it never feels too heavy or as though it could irritate myself.
This gentle mask simply hydrates your skin and leaves it looking and feeling truly hydrated, healthy, and beautiful.
