What is a Caviar Hair Treatment?

I’ve had many hair care blunders which is why for so many years I’ve shared the best DIY hair treatments, the best hair products for blondes, my go-to purple shampoo for brassy hair, and so much more. But, one thing I haven’t touched on is in-salon hair treatments – well, that is until today.
Last Saturday I was lucky enough to be invited out to Salon Era in Richmond, BC Canada to try out their Kérastase Caviar Hair Treatment. I’ve heard about this treatment before and had friends give rave reviews over it so I figured I would also give it a try!
Salon Era is a stylish salon with a clean and minimalist feel to it. While I was there I was lucky to meet the three people behind Salon Era – Ken Hung, Sébastien Pigeon, and Moi Li.
They were friendly, professional, and super knowledgeable about the treatment I was getting and also pointed me in the direction of great products that would help improve the condition of my hair long-term. I was super impressed by the salon and by the entire team.
So… Let’s talk about the Kérastase Caviar Hair Treatment
The Kérastase Chronologie Caviar hair treatment is touted as being a breakthrough in hair care. Its caviar pearl technology is rich with antioxidants, and vitamins and is said to deeply strengthen the hair.
Does it ACTUALLY contain caviar?
No. The treatment is “mimetic caviar” which means it is a lab-derived equivalent. The pearls contain Vitamin A, Vitamin D, and omega-3 fatty acids – all of which help nourish the hair and keep it looking its best.
What is the Kérastase caviar hair treatment process?
First, the caviar beads are added into a conditioning treatment and then applied to wet hair.
The treatment is sealed by wrapping warm wet towels around your head. Then you leave the masque on for about half an hour or so. It’s incredibly relaxing, and the Kérastase Caviar Treatment smells nothing short of divine. After about half an hour, the treatment is rinsed out.
I was immediately impressed by how soft and silky my hair felt, and by how great my hair smelled – I swear, the scent filled the entire salon and was so lovely.
How often should you get this treatment done?
It’s recommended that you get this treatment done every month or two in order to maintain results. However, the treatment is on the pricy side. At Salon Era, it costs $130.
