My Lip Injections Experience + FAQ
Last week, I finally took the plunge and went and got temporary lip injections. While I have gotten them before, it had been some time since I had them and I was a bit nervous. And, the lip filler I had done years ago, I didn’t love.
When Delta Laser invited me in to discuss procedure options, I was excited to discuss the possibility of getting lip fillers. I have always heard incredible things about Delta Laser, and I knew it anywhere was going to “fix” my lips and achieve the look I’ve always wanted, it would be there.
Growing up, I never really had lips. They were super thin and I never really liked them. I’ve always loved beautiful smiles, and I just never really felt confident about mine because of my thin lips.
I also always felt that my lips didn’t suit my face, they just seemed like they didn’t fit with the rest of my features. To be clear, I’ve never wanted to have lips like Angelina Jolie’s or Kylie Jenner’s (though they are absolutely beautiful!), I just wanted my lips to look like what I felt they should’ve been like all along — just a tiny bit fuller!
Lip Injections
The Procedure
Going into Delta Laser that day, they noticed that I have a slight overbite and cross-bite and they said that they could really fix the appearance of that using the filler.
For my lips, they decided it was best to use a full syringe on my bottom lip and only a half on the top. This was the best way to maintain that “natural” look that I wanted.
Before they inject the filler, they first freeze your lips. Now typically I’ve experienced a cream that freezes your lips, but at Delta Laser, they just use freezing packs to numb the area. The reason they do this is because they had found a lot of people would get the freezing cream into their mouth and it would freeze their entire lip and mouth area.
Also, the freezing cream fades much slower so you have that funny frozen feeling for a while after you’re done with your temporary lip injections appointment. So, overall the ice pack just seemed like a better option.
Are Temporary Lip Injections Painful?
I did find getting filler somewhat painful, but it’s tolerable. I know people like an “out of 10” sort of answer so for me I would say that the pain ranked as a 6/10, and in some areas a 7/10.
This is in part because the filler was injected from below the lip area (to help push the lip outwards/forward) which is quite sensitive, and then the corners of the mouth area also more delicate areas. If you find the temporary lip injections pain too much, then I just suggest you ask for a bit more freezing time.
Did you Bruise or Swell from Lip Injections?
You betcha! I actually bruised quite a bit in the days after getting filler, but again it wasn’t anything that couldn’t be covered with a little concealer.
My bruising was more than I’ve had before, but I also felt that Delta Laser really took their time assessing my mouth and how to improve the shape more than I’ve ever experienced before.
So, I feel because they really tailored their temporary lip injections to suit my “lip needs”, they went into more sensitive (and bruise-able) areas to achieve the results I’ve always hoped for.
The bruise faded quickly too, it was gone within the week. As for the swelling, the first few days I had some swelling but nothing crazy. It didn’t bother me or stop me from going out.
How Long Do Temporary Lip Injections Last?
Lip filler typically lasts 6 months, but it has been my experience that your lips never fully go back to what they were. I’ve found that my lips have maintained a level of plumpness after filler.
Before/ After:
Would I get it done again?
Absolutely. If I find that my lips go back to what they were previously, then I’ll definitely get it done again. I love having fuller lips and I really do feel like they suit my face overall.
Alright, how much does it cost?
On average their temporary lip injections cost about $650, though mine would’ve cost around $1050. The price is dependent on the amount of filler you get.
My Temporary Lip Injections Results
I am absolutely thrilled with my results. Once the swelling and bruising went away, I was super happy with them. They are truly the lips I have always wanted, and I have been having such a fun time trying out lipsticks in all shades!
What I loved so much was how Delta Laser really took into consideration my hopes, and how they very thoroughly assessed my face and explained what would suit me best.
They were very clear, understanding, and patient with all my questions. Huge thank you to Delta Laser for giving me my dream lips.
