Miik: The Canadian Fashion Brand that is Making Ethical & Stylish Clothing a Reality
Whenever I discuss my style (or I get the dreaded “describe your style in 3 words!” question) I always have to note that my style is all about practicality. While I love the look of bold pieces, I am really not one to wear something that won’t truly work for my daily lifestyle. I need my wardrobe to be comprised of pieces that are versatile, practical, and comfortable to wear.
Now I know, when I describe my style as “practical” that for many that translates to “boring”! But the thing is, we all lead unique lives and we all need pieces that are going to suit our day-to-day tasks. Some days, I stay indoors and work from home – other days, I meet friends for brunch, film for hours, and attend blogging events. No day is the same, every day has something new to it and I need my style to be versatile enough to fit whatever comes my way.
The challenge with finding clothes that truly suit your life is finding pieces that are comfortable but don’t look comfortable. What I mean is, you want to feel like you’re in your pajamas – but not look it. More often than not, clothes that feel super comfortable look it, too – and those pieces aren’t versatile. You can’t wear sweatpants to the office!

A few months ago, I discovered Miik and I loved their dedication to providing comfortable and quality styles for men and women. I first became obsessed with their leggings (which are unbelievably comfortable), and just recently I tried out a few other items from their clothing selection.
Something I really love about Miik is their drive to be an ethical brand that provides quality pieces, sustainably. They prioritize quality, use sustainable (and super soft) fabrics, and manufacture their clothing in Canada to ensure ethical practices are upheld. You can read Miik’s ethos here.
Their styles all have that super chic minimalist vibe to them, they are made of super luxurious 4-way stretch materials, and they are seriously some of the most comfortable pieces I’ve ever put on. Also, did I mention that Miik is a Canadian clothing brand? How cool is that! #OhCanada
“Instead of buying cheap, trendy clothing that would end up in a landfill site after one season, why not create clothes that are durable and well-made in simple, but striking designs?” – Michael Gaughan, Co-Founder of Miik

One of my favourite pieces from Miik is the Natalia mock-neck a-line dress. It has that professional and retro look to it, yet when paired with basic accessories it looks super modern. For example, when you pair it with sneakers it really has a casual tennis-dress look to it.
To me, this dress is the perfect “office to evening” dress. You could easily pair this look with some block heels or a pair of professional flats for an office-friendly look, and at the end of the day, you could simply swap your heels for some sneakers to instantly make a more casual after-hours outfit. Aside from the great comfort factor of this dress, I also adore the chic mock-turtleneck neckline and stripe detailing.
Since we live in a small apartment, it’s so important that I try to limit my wardrobe (though it’s a challenge!) and so I need pieces that can be reworked and restyled into a variety of looks. This dress is the epitome of versatility, and it’s something I’ll continue to love to wear for many seasons/years to come!

The other style I tried was the Jojo drawstring jumper in slate. I adore jumpsuits – they are easy go-to’s as they take the thought out of pairing items and they are super versatile. Pair them with heels and you’ve created a gorgeous and sleek night look, or pair them with sandals or sneakers for a more casual and chill daytime look. The thing I loved so much about this Jojo drawstring jumper was how it felt. I truly could’ve worn it all day, all night — yes, even sleep in it because it really feels like pajamas. This jumpsuit was slouchy, stretchy, and super easy to wear.
I love both looks but especially like the dress with the striped detail! So cute!
It’s really let me want to open my own blog. I like your humor, the frankness, the vision of the world.
You look great in both these styles. I checked out their website through the link as I was intrigued by the sustainability factor and Milk being a Canadian company. I found the styles and fabrics very nice. I went into the sizing chart and unfortunately I would not fit into their sizes. I know you will get many years wear out of your outfits and I hope one day Milk will make plus size ones too.
