My Go-To Makeup Base Products
I talk a lot about makeup and beauty products on my blog, Youtube Channel, and Instagram. I love makeup, it always feels so creative and fun to me.
Even on my wedding day, when the bustle and busyness of the day began to set in, I chose to do my own makeup because I enjoy it so much. I did not, however, do my own hair because THAT would be a disaster!
So today, I wanted to talk about my go-to makeup base products – the sunscreen, foundation, concealer, and powder I use daily to achieve natural-looking yet flawless skin. So, let’s get into it!

My Go-To Makeup Base Products (these are must-trys!)
SUNSCREEN:
I tend to rotate a few different sunscreens for different reasons, and I am going to share them all with you.
The Alumier Sunscreen is a great sunscreen that comes in a tinted form and a translucent form. I tend to switch between the two depending on the day – sometimes I like the tinted to give my skin a bit more warmth.
This one is great for wearing under makeup as it absorbs into the skin nicely and doesn’t leave any stickiness on the skin.
The La Roche Posay sunscreens have been some of my very favourites since high school, back when I first discovered that sunscreens could cause me breakouts and that I needed to find one that wouldn’t.
These sunscreens never break me out, they feel very comfortable on the skin, and they also wear nicely under makeup. The La Roche Posay sunscreens tend to be the ones I bring most often when I go to the beach or on holiday.
Lastly, the ZO Skin Primer with SPF is a fantastic smoothing primer that also offers sun protection. I love this sunscreen/primer, but it is a bit trickier to get your hands on. You likely will be able to find it at a Dermatologists’s office / Skincare clinic.
IT COSMETICS CC CREAM
This foundation has been a favourite of mine for years and it’s become my go-to foundation for daily wear. The IT COSMETICS CC Cream is a buildable foundation so you can take it from light coverage to full coverage in no time.
[easy-image-collage id=10429]I tend to like more glowy/radiant foundations, and this one has a beautiful natural glowy finish to it which I just adore.
The IT Cosmetics CC Cream is also very lightweight and comfortable feeling on the skin which makes it a great choice for year-round wear – yes, even in the summer when foundation tends to slip and slide around and feel less comfortable on the skin, this one is still fantastic. Trust me, I wear it daily.
Lastly, I love that this foundation contains SPF 50. I have a tendency to break out when I use most sunscreens or foundations with SPF in them, but this foundation has literally never broken my skin out. It’s kind of a miracle, really.
CONCEALER
I have a tendency to try new concealers since I am always on the hunt for one that will best correct my under-eyes darkness and also disguise blemishes. However, currently, I am using the DIOR Forever Skin Correct Concealer and I absolutely love it.

It’s a very moisturizing concealer so it doesn’t settle into fine lines, and it really does beautifully brightens up my under-eye circles, hides the discoloration and veins on my eyelids, and conceals blemishes.
I simply apply a bit to the inner corner of my eye, the outer edge of my eye, and my eyelid, and then blend it out with a brush.

POWDERS
The has been a favourite of mine for a while. I really enjoy (great for adding coverage and mattifying) and Laura Mercier’s Powder (Lightweight and sets makeup beautifully), but the PUR Translucent setting powder is on another level. It is a very fine powder that blurs the skin and sets makeup in place.

The other powder I use throughout the day is the . This is such a fantastic product. It offers sun protection without being a cream formula which means it easily goes over makeup so you can top-up your SPF throughout the day.

All of my questions on my mind were answered. Thank you so much!
