A few months ago, I shared my morning skincare routine and I intended to follow up immediately with my nighttime skincare routine, but time kind of got away from me.
Plus, I find that my nighttime skincare is a lot less of a regimen, and it’s more changing and shifting as I try new products out.
Recently though, I have been following more of a routine so I thought it would be fun to share it with you all.
After my eczema flare-up over the holidays and at the beginning of the new year, I decided to give my skin a bit of a break from testing out new products and instead, stick to a key few products. (I say a “few key products” but really, this routine is fairly intense, I know.)
My Nighttime Skincare Routine
Clinique Cleansing Balm
I first remove my makeup using the Clinique Cleansing Balm. Typically, I use reusable makeup wipes to remove the cleansing balm before diving into the rest of my nighttime skincare routine. (I don’t like to use the same cloth I cleanse with as it makes it icky with makeup)
Clinique Foaming Cleanser
To make sure my skin is extra clean, I always like to cleanse it using a gentle cleanser.
I had been using the ZO Cleansing Gel previously but lately, I’ve been using the Clinique Foaming Cleanser and I absolutely love it.
5 Days of Hydration, 2 Days Using Skincare Acids
Unlike the cleansing part of my makeup routine which I do 7 days a week, the hydration part of my skincare I only do 5 days a week
Because these products are so intensely hydrating, I find using them about 5 times a week, and using a different routine 2 times weekly.
One that includes an acid product, like the Farmacy Honeymoon Glow Serum, or if you follow me on Instagram you know that I’ve been trying out The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5, The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + HA 2%, and The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA.
I find this full routine has really made my skin look just so healthy and glowy.
*When I first tried The Ordinary Skincare out, I attempted to use it 3 times a week and I found it was too hard on my skin.
Now, I simply use it on Friday’s and Tuesday’s. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday are moisture focused.
Yehwadam Hwansaenggo Skincare: 5 Days a Week
I had been sent some Hwansaenggo products a while back from The Face Shop and as you all know, I am a huge fan of The Face Shop skincare.
It’s one of my go-to stores for skincare products, sheet masks, and lately, I’ve even been trying out more of their makeup brands (the VDL jelly blush is basically my favourite thing, ever.)
Well, the Yehwadam Hwansaenggo skincare line has really improved my skin and make it look and feel so glowy, smooth, and hydrated. I’ve been so impressed with it.
Yehwadam Hwansaenggo Toner
To get started hydrating and soothing my skin, I use the Hwansaenggo toner.
This toner is quite thin and liquidy, and it blends/absorbs into the skin quite nicely. It leaves your skin feel hydrated and soft.
Yehwadam Hwansaenggo Serum
The serum is much more creamy and thick than most serums I’ve used. It almost feels more like a moisturizer. It feels extremely smoothing and soft on the skin.
I have been pretty obsessed with this serum as it doesn’t feel slick, tacky, or heavy on the skin. It smoothes over your skin and absorbs in so beautifully.
I absolutely love the serum and have found myself reaching for it during the day (on my makeup-free days) for that little pick-me-up of hydration.
Yehwadam Hwansaenggo Emulsion
Like the serum, the emulsion is quite thick and creamy. I personally LOVE this emulsion.
When my skin is feeling a bit dull I actually have found putting this on alone has really helped my skin appear healthier and smoother all on its own.
I feel like this is one of my favourite parts of my nighttime skincare routine.
Yehwadam Hwansaenggo Eye Cream
This eye cream is THICK! I was surprised by just how thick it was when I first began using it and I was really nervous that it would cause me to get those little bumps under my eyes which some other heavier eye creams have done.
But, it hasn’t at all – instead it’s seriously made my under eyes look hydrated, moisturized and smooth.
I still have darker circles than I’d like, but I don’t really feel like I have many under eye creases at all when I use this product.
Yehwadam Hwansaenggo Cream
Like the eye cream, the final nighttime cream is super thick! That’s why I only use it in certain spots that get quite dry.
I had used this all over my face a few times, and I just found that it was a bit too heavy for all-over use.
2 Days a Week:
As I mentioned above, twice a week I use a different skincare routine. This secondary routine includes either using acid skincare products.
This includes either Farmacy Beauty Honeymoon Glow Serum, or a few products from The Ordinary, which include The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5, The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + HA 2%, and The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA.
These are all products that I really enjoy. When these products are used in moderation that they really make my skin look so renewed, smooth, and glowy.
When I went overboard with these products though in the past, they do make my skin dry and irritated. I would recommend using them 1-2 times weekly and building up very slowly.
