Shiseido Future Solution LX Total Radiance Foundation Review
It’s been a while since I last reviewed a foundation here. In fact, it’s been almost 4 months – and the last foundation I reviewed was the Ordinary Serum Foundation Review. And boy, that foundation was the total opposite of the one I am sharing today.
It was a super affordable and light coverage option, as today’s Shiseido Future Solution LX Total Radiance Foundation Review is a super luxurious, expensive, full coverage option.
I actually reviewed the Shiseido Future Solution LX Skincare Line as well. If you’re looking for some luxurious skincare then check that out next!
Coverage
This foundation is intended to give a full coverage look. I would definitely say it’s buildable to full coverage, but that I often wear it slightly more sheered out for a medium coverage look.
This foundation is lightly creamy and applies very smoothly to the skin. I find that when it’s built up to a full coverage foundation that it still appears quite natural and doesn’t look cakey.
Cost: $120
What it’s Supposed to Do
This foundation is supposed to give a natural full coverage look (meaning it won’t appear cakey) with a radiant finish. This means that your skin will have a luminous sheen to it.
In addition, this foundation is supposed to have skincare benefits in it! So, it makes you look flawless while it helps to reduce the signs of aging.
“A rich, velvety-smooth age-defying foundation infused with anti-aging skincare ingredients to reduce the look of pores, lines and dark spots revealing smoother, firmer-looking, more radiant skin. … Formulated with Aura Radiance Technology to give skin a radiant, resilient and smooth look” – Shiseido.com
How to Use:
Online, Shiseido notes that you’re supposed to use a “pearl-sized drop” and blend it out with your finger tips.
I don’t do that.
While I have nothing against blending the foundation out with your hands, I personally prefer to use a brush. Specifically, I like using a large dense brush like my Tarte Airbrush foundation brush.
While a brush soaks up a bit of product, it also just cuts down on blending time and I find it makes it apply a bit more evenly on the skin.
So, I just apply a few small dots of the foundation to my forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin and then blend the foundation out. I probably do use close to a pearl-size drop, if not a little bit more.
Then I set the foundation with powder in specific spots. Sometimes, I use the Shiseido Future Solution LX Total Radiance Loose Powder, or I’ll use the Laura Mercier translucent setting powder.
I typically set the center of my forehead, nose, and chin area. If it’s a particularly hot day, or my skin is feeling a bit off, then I’ll also set the very center area of my cheeks nearest to my nose.

Does it Contain SPF?
Yes!
This foundation has SPF 20 in it to help protect your skin throughout the day from the sun’s harmful rays.
Shade Range
The shade range is extremely limited.
It only has 11 shades and all of them are on the light-side. To me, this just isn’t a wide enough range.
There are so many people who are left out because of this kind of shade range, and there’s really no reason for a shade range to be so limited.
Review
I really love this foundation. However, I hate the price and I’m not blown away by the shade range, either.
The foundation does have beautiful coverage. It’s creamy, comfortable, and feels surprisingly lightweight. The finish is very luminous and satiny which makes it look quite natural on the skin.
My hope is that one day the price will reduce and that the shade range will expand.
