9 Travel Hair Care Essentials

Heading away on holiday soon? You’ll want to read this! Today I am sharing 9 Travel Hair Care Essentials that you won’t want to forget!

When it comes to my hair care routine while I’m on vacation I have three things to focus on: keeping it clean, moisturized, and silky smooth.

Since I have naturally wavy frizzy hair I am already challenged with keeping my hair tamed, add in some humidity and my hair is a serious mess. After a few travel blunders, I’ve been able to narrow down just what I need to keep my tresses tame while away!

9 Travel Hair Care Essentials

9 Travel Hair Care Essentials

1. Shampoo & Conditioner:

When heading on holiday, packing a daily shampoo and conditioner is a must. I typically pack along a full or large-size hair care when I head on holiday, rather than travel sizes, especially on a tropical holiday because I find myself washing my hair so much more frequently.

Hit the pool? Wash my hair. Go on an excursion? Come home, and wash my hair. Walk around for 5 minutes in the hot sun? Wash my hair.

Just kidding, but you see my point. Since I do wash my hair often on holiday though, I always like to bring gentle shampoo & conditioners as well as a purple shampoo to keep my hair brass-free.

2. Hair Mask:

When on a holiday, especially if we’re in a tropical location, my hair always needs a bit more care. The sun, the pool, and the increased amount of washes all lead to my hair feeling a bit drier and damaged. That’s why I always pack a deep conditioner or two to use during my holiday. Typically, I’ll use this 1-2 per week when I am away.

I recently brought the Moroccan Oil Restorative Hair Mask (one of my all-time faves!) on holiday and used it about 2 times throughout the week.

3. Hair Balm or Leave-in Conditioner:

To add a bit more moisture to my hair after I shower, I use a leave-in conditioner. Otherwise, because my hair is feeling more damaged and dry, it will become more tangled and unmanageable. A leave-in product just helps to keep my hair looking and feeling smooth and healthy.

4. A Hair Serum

One product I use after I wash my hair, once it’s dry and styled, and throughout the day, is a serum or hair oil. My hair can get really frizzy looking so a serum helps smooth out my hair (specifically my hair ends) and helps it to appear healthier and softer.

5. A Hair Brush

The first thing you’ll need to style your hair while you’re away is a brush or comb. I tend to just bring a wide paddle brush but bring whichever suits your hair care needs more – heck, if you want, bring both!

6. A Hair Straightener or Curler

Whatever you typically style your hair with, that’s what you want to pack along on holiday with you.

I typically pack a hair straightener when I go on holiday because I find it gives me the most options with my hair. I can both curl and straighten it with my hair straightener. However, if you aren’t comfortable curling your hair with a straightener, then just pack your curling iron instead!

7. Heatless Hair Styling Methods/Tools

Something I always like to pack along with me is a way to style my hair without heat tools. Usually, I’ll pack along some hair ties or scrunchies so I can pull my hair up in a ponytail, bun, or a half-up ponytail hairstyle and I usually pack a bathrobe belt so I can do overnight bathrobe belt curls! Update: Recently, I began using this heatless curling rod and I love it. It creates the most beautiful voluminous curls without any heat.

8. Hair Ties & Scrunchies

When I travel, I often wear my hair up and so hair ties are essential for me. At night, I also like to pull my hair up and away from my face and I use silk scrunchies for that.

9. Hair Clip

Throwing my hair up in a hair clip is one of my favourite quick hairstyles so I always pack one or two along with me when I travel.

Great list! I have frizzy hair too and it needs all the help it can get.
My favourite product is Macadamian Repair Masque! I am interested to try Loreal for a less expensive option and also the leave in ION you suggested

It's pretty darn awesome, but since you're brunette make sure you get the one specified for brunettes – the other has a serious white-cast to it!

My heart is absolutely bursting right now. I can’t believe our little Liam is here. He is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. He loves his sleep, is unbelievably strong, and is a total cuddle bug. Our hearts are so full 🤍🤍🤍

We had our scheduled c-section for the morning of May 3 and we knew going into it that there were two surgical routes that would be considered because of my prior spinal surgery. The first, the more routine c-section with either an epidural or spinal anaesthesia. The second, being fully put under with general anesthesia. I’ll be honest, I really thought we would be going with the first option(s) and that GA wouldn’t really be on the table. I didn’t want it on the table, but after speaking to the anesthesiologist, it became clear that it was the safest option. It was an emotional decision, I was really scared to be honest. It was not made lightly. I was walked into the OR at about 10:00am and by 10:13am, Liam was earthside and screaming. Jeremy was there to cut the cord and give him his first cuddles. It took me a bit longer to get to see our Liam because of this surgical route, and I feel so lucky knowing Jeremy was there to be with him in his first moments. He already is such a great dad 🤍

The last 48 hours have been a wonderful whirlwind. We are all doing well. We feel incredibly blessed to have our sweet Liam here💙

Thank you everyone for your kind messages. We feel the love all around 💙✨
